Network Rail announce £98million legal services framework

16th July 2018

Network Rail is putting in place a framework agreement for a five-year, £98million legal services contract.

The framework is for the supply of a full range of legal service to support the delivery of its objectives for Control Period 6, covering the period from April 2019 to the end of March 2024.

It is proposed that this new framework will consist of a small number of suppliers who will be expected to work together to provide legal services capability across the full range of legal disciplines.

This includes dispute resolution, data protection, freedom of information and public law.

The framework will be split into two lots. The first will cover England and Wales with an estimated value of £91m with a maximum of nine candidates to be invited. The second lot, covering Scotland, is estimated to be worth £7m and a maximum of four candidates will be invited.

Network Rail will have the option to extend the framework by up to two years.

They have also said that they will be using this procurement as an opportunity to innovative approaches to the delivery of legal services to ensure that we are driving value for money for the taxpayer.

In February, Network Rail presented their £47billion plan for Control Period 6 which will focus on investment in maintenance and renewals to improve reliability.
