Gigabit Capable Connectivity framework worth £100m to open soon

20th August 2019

The Gigabit Capable Connectivity dynamic purchasing system (DPS) is being initiated by the Department for Culture Media and Sports through Crown Commercial Service. This commercial vehicle is currently valued at £100,000,000.

This agreement will deliver fibre optic infrastructure and services. It will include both dark fibre and lit services over which public sector organisations and their agents can deliver network services.

The agreement is being developed to provide a route to market for building upgrade projects where funding has been allocated through the Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) programme. The agreement will be available for the whole of the public sector, regardless of funding source.

The service providers will be procured using one of two specifications:

  • Managed Connectivity Services
  • Fibre Infrastructure Services

The services will be offered with flexible bandwidth options using infrastructure that offers download bandwidths of between a lower threshold of at least 100 Mbps and an upper threshold of at least 1 Gbps.

The full and official specification of this framework is estimated to be published in September 2019.
