NHS launch £200million waste management framework

The National Health Service (NHS) have released a contract notice for a four-year, £200m waste management services framework.

 

The aim of the framework is to provide a compliant route to market for the provision of waste management and minimisation services for all public sector organisations in the UK.

 

There are six lots on the NHS framework, with tenders able to be submitted for all lots.

 

Lot 1 – Clinical waste (£50m)

 

This lot covers the collection, transportation, minimisation and appropriate disposal method at agreed locations for incineration, alternative treatment and/or landfill of clinical healthcare waste.

 

Lot 2 – Reusable sharps containers (£25m)

 

A safe, sustainable and compliant managed solution for the implementation, collection and cleaning of reusable sharps containers.

 

Lot 3 – Sanitary and washroom services (£25m)

 

This lot is for the provision of washroom services. The aim of this lot is to provide washroom visitors with a discreet and hygienic way to dispose of sanitary waste.

 

Lot 4 – Domestic waste (£50m)

 

This lot covers the collection, transportation, minimisation and appropriate disposal method for domestic waste.

 

Lot 5 – Confidential waste destruction and disposal (£25m)

 

For this lot, contractors need to handle all confidential waste, ensuring it is kept secure at all times for destruction and destroyed as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998.

 

Lot 6 – Total waste managed solution (£25m)

 

The scope of this lot will include at least two service areas, classified under Waste management and minimisation services – this will be agreed at contracting stage.

 

The deadline for requests to participate has been set for the 20th September at 12pm.

 

There are also an envisaged maximum number of 25 participants to bid for the framework.

 

This procurement exercise will be conducted on the EU supplied e-Tendering portal. Candidates wishing to be considered for this agreement must register their expression of interest and provide additional procurement specific information through the portal.
